Our Mission

The Boone County Youth Assistance Program serves as early intervention for youth ages 3-17 facing challenging life circumstances. We take a holistic approach to coordinate our community’s vast array of talents, services and resources to help youth and empower parents and caregivers under the organizational umbrella of Boone
County Mentoring Partnership.

why boone county yap

Everyone has experienced an overwhelming life situation or knows someone who has. YAP is a great starting place for anyone who is unsure of how to deal with a new scenario affecting their child or a child they care for. By creating a safe place for families to ask for help regarding their children, we as a community are taking further steps in creating a supportive environment for our children, and help alleviate needs that could become problematic as the child develops and grows.

how it works

YAP works solely off of referrals. This is not a school program and referrals are welcome and may come in through neighbors, health care providers, churches or other individuals and organizations. The Youth Assistance Program takes the referral, comes alongside the family and their child, and introduces them to the resources available in the community. YAP is a voluntary program. If the child and family accept the advocacy of the Youth Assistance Program, ongoing coordination for services is provided until the expressed needs are met.

who to refer

Any child between the ages of 3-17 who are experiencing new, challenging, or overwhelming circumstances.
